Curtis Weston earned Gillingham only their third away win of the season at the expense of Morecambe.
Weston scored the only goal of the game by slotting home the loose ball as he followed up Gary Mulligan's shot which rebounded off the post.
Mulligan also shot wide and hit the bar with an excellent near-post volley.
Morecambe's Fraser McLachlan drilled a shot over the bar from the edge of the area and Gills keeper Simon Royce made a great late save from Craig Stanley.
