Torquay missed an injury-time penalty as Martin Riley's second goal of the season ensured Kidderminster leapfrogged the Gulls at Plainmoor.
Riley turned in Martin Brittain's cross with 17 minutes left after Torquay had wasted a host of chances.
Harriers keeper Tim Bartlett was in inspired form to keep Torquay at bay, denying Nicky Wroe and Matthew Green.
And he saved superbly from Tim Sills' spot-kick in the dying seconds after Riley was penalised for handball.

"In the end you get results and performances by coming out of the other side bigger, stronger and hopefully better."
