Striker Jamie Clarke scored his first senior hat-trick to halt a run of four straight defeats for Accrington.

Clarke opened the scoring, tucking in Chris King's cross but Adam Proudlock hit the equaliser when the ball came to him off keeper Ian Dunbavin's knee.

Jean Louis Akpro's shot rattled the bar for Grimsby and Jimmy Ryan's 30-yard drive hit the post at the other end.

Clarke made it 2-1 with a superb run and rifled shot and he sealed victory when he slotted in from a tight angle.
