John Danby was Chester's hero as he made a string of saves to earn them a draw with promotion-chasing Bradford.
Chester were the brighter side in the first half and Ryan Lowe volleyed over from inside the box before Mark Hughes had a volley saved by Rhys Evans.
But Bradford improved after the break and Danby had to be at his best to deny Steve Jones, while Michael Boulding headed over from close range.
Late on Danby made another superb save to deny Omar Daley as Chester held on.
