Neither goalkeeper was seriously tested as Port Vale and Barnet played out a goalless draw at Vale Park.

A drab first-half was briefly lit up as Barnet's John O'Flynn shot inches over the bar, while at the other end Rob Beckwith bravely denied Marc Richards.

The visitors were livelier after the interval without creating any real chances, while Vale finally upped the tempo in the closing stages.

Lee Collins came closest to breaking the deadlock but headed just over.
