On-loan striker Jonathan Forte marked his Notts County debut with a stunning hat-trick against a lacklustre Barnet.
Richard Butcher had set the Magpies on their way with a left-footed volley before Forte stole the show.
He fired in his first from close range on 14 minutes, adding a second when Ismail Yakubu made a mistake and racing clear to slot in his third.
Barnet showed signs of life after the break with Albert Adomach going close but Notts County were home and dry.
