Adam Miller's early header proved enough to give Gillingham victory.

An unmarked Miller powered in a downward header from seven yards despite Izak Reid's best efforts.

Macclesfield came to life before the break when Francis Green drilled a shot against the post and Terry Dunfield fired over from 20 yards.

Simon Yeo also sliced wide from 15 yards for the Silkmen, while Miller could only prod against the post when home keeper Jon Brain dropped the ball.
