Rene Howe's early strike was enough to give Morecambe their first victory of the season as they overcame Shrewsbury.
Howe finished superbly from Stewart Drummond's long ball to give his side a confidence-boosting win against the League Two promotion favourites.
The Shrimps came close to extending their lead but were denied on two occasions by Luke Daniels, who saved from Matty Blinkhorn and Garry Hunter.
Shrewsbury struggled to create chances, Grant Holt heading their best over.
