Dagenham were held to a draw by a battling Port Vale side which was reduced to 10 men late on.

Paul Benson gave the hosts an early lead, firing into the roof of the net from close range after four minutes.

But Marc Richards levelled matters almost immediately, converting Simon Richman's seventh-minute cross.

Benson hit the woodwork either side of half-time, while Vale, who had skipper Sam Stockley sent off, watched a late Louis Dodds' free-kick drift wide.
