Brentford picked up their second win in a row thanks to a first-half penalty from Glenn Poole, but Barnet missed a spot-kick of their own.
The visitors took the lead after just nine minutes when Albert Adomah tripped Brett Johnson and Poole sent Lee Harrison the wrong way with his kick.
Bizarrely, the same two players clashed for the second penalty incident.
But after being brought down by Johnson, Adomah was denied by a fine save from on-loan keeper Ben Hamer.
