Accrington Stanley opened their account for the season as they proved good value for their win at Port Vale.
Stanley took the lead when Vale defender John McCombe fouled Paul Mullin and Ian Craney curled the resulting free-kick in from 25 yards.
Louis Dodds and Marc richards faield to hit the target as Vale attempted to work their way back into the game.
Accrington wrapped up victory in the last minute when Mullin strode into the area and chipped keeper Joe Anyon.
