Charlie MacDonald's first-half double helped Brentford to a comprehensive victory over Grimsby.

McDonald opened the scoring with a superb shot with the outside of his right foot.

Nathan Elder forced home a second when keeper Phil Barnes fumbled a cross and MacDonald made it 3-0, slotting home Alan Bennett's through-ball.

Glenn Poole added a fourth after great work by Elder and Barnes made a fine save from Poole to keep the score down.
