Cliff Akurang's double helped Barnet to a comfortable win over fellow strugglers Chester.
Chester had the first-half's best chances but Albert Adomah rounded keeper John Danby to put Barnet ahead soon after the break.
Akurang got the benefit of a controversial decision and lashed home the resulting penalty, with his header putting the game out of reach.
Mark Hughes scrambled a consolation for Chester in stoppage time.
