Striker Peter Bore scored twice in his first start of the season as Grimsby easily overcame Morecambe. Twice he took advantage of poor defending, drilling a low shot past Scott Davies and heading in from close range after Gary Jones' shot was saved.
Bore almost had his hat-trick but was denied by a superb Davies save before Nick Hegarty hammered home the rebound.
Martin Butler then made it 4-0 with his first touch. Garry Thompson hit the post with his Morecambe's best chance.
