Former Wrexham favourite Darren Ferguson left the Racecourse Ground a victorious manager of Peterborough following Jamie Day's double strike. Day's 65th-minute opener, a free-kick curled in from just outside the box, was his first goal in 19 months.
Nine minutes from time Day repeated the feat following a foul.
Defeat deepened Wrexham's relegation fears, which were worsened by fellow strugglers Mansfield's 1-1 draw with Bury at Field Mill.
The Stags travel to Wrexham on Saturday in what will be one of the biggest games of the season for both clubs.
