A mass brawl involving all 20 outfield players dominated a goalless affair. The flash point was a 72nd-minute challenge by Wrexham's Steve Evans which flattened home keeper Joe Lewis.
He was unable to carry on and after he was stretchered off Posh had to blood teenage substitute James McKeown for the final 20 minutes of the match.
Lewis had been the busier of the two keepers but Wrexham keeper Gavin Ward denied Craig Mackail-Smith and George Boyd as Posh pressed late on.
