Goals from Gary Smith and Glenn Poole either side of half-time saw Brentford take the points from a thrilling match. Smith burst on to an Alan Connell lay-off to fire low past the advancing goalkeeper and inside the far post.
The visitors levelled when Jack Lester collected a clever through-ball on the edge of the box and chipped Bees keeper Ben Hamer for his 18th of the season.
But Poole had the last laugh, firing a curling low drive inside the post from the edge of the box to claim the win.
