Goals in each half by Stuart Drummond and David Hunt earned Shrewsbury an easy win over Macclesfield and kept them in touch with the play-off pack. Drummond had already been denied by a fine save from goalkeeper Jonathan Brain before he headed home from Hunt's inch-perfect long throw-in.
Hunt doubled the lead in the second half with a 25-yard volley after Ben Davies's free-kick was headed clear.
Francis Green and Danny Thomas missed chances for the visitors late on.
