Accrington's Paul Mullin once again proved to be Mansfield's bogeyman as he scored the only goal of the game. Mullin scored three times against the visitors last season and added another to ensure a third win of the season.
His goal came when Peter Cavanagh's cross from the right found Mullin who headed in his fourth of the season.
Andy Proctor rattled the crossbar with a wonder strike from 20 yards, while Accrington keeper Kenny Arthur denied Michael Boulding's low drive.
