Shrewsbury celebrated a first league appearance at their new 15m stadium with a hard-fought win over Bradford. Dave Hibbert, a summer signing from Preston, got the game's only goal from the penalty spot on nine minutes after Darren Williams's foul on Marc Pugh.
Hibbert was unlucky not to double the lead 10 minutes later when his glancing header from Pugh's centre hit the bar.
Paul Heckingbottom almost snatched a point with a long-range free-kick but was brilliantly denied by Glynn Garner.
