Rochdale and Swindon cancelled each other out in a scrappy Spotland draw. Sofiane Zaaboub forced a fine save from Rochdale keeper Matt Gilks while Dale themselves went close when Chris Dagnall's lob was headed off the line.
Swindon striker Christian Roberts could have won it when clean through, but he blasted over the top from 15 yards.
Dagnall went close for Dale while Smith saved from Rundle's fiercely driven cross and in the end the goalless draw was a fair reflection of the contest.
