Goals from Leo Fortune-West, David Edwards and Stewart Drummond saw Shrewsbury to victory and lifted them into the League Two play-off places. Rochdale, unbeaten in nine games, were undone after Fortune-West's superb volley inspired a fine Town win.
Edwards made it two, heading home Derek Asamoah's lofted pass, before Drummond headed in Ben Davis' cross for a third.
Danny Reet hit the bar late on for Dale's best chance as the hosts took their own unbeaten run to 14 games.
