Promotion-chasing pair Darlington and Walsall fought out a lively stalemate. On-loan Ian Miller almost snatched the points for Darlington after 68 minutes when his looping header from Clark Keltie's corner hit the woodwork.
Darlington created the better openings in a tight match, with Walsall's Craig Pead clearing Gregg Blundell's first half header of the line.
Walsall's best chance came when Kevin Harper crossed for top scorer Martin Butler, but he fired wide.
