Peterborough recovered from the shock of conceding an early goal to thump struggling Torquay. Lee Mansell's fierce volley gave the Gulls a sixth-minute lead but Shane Huke headed Posh level and a Lee Thorpe own goal gifted the hosts a second.
Ben Futcher stretched the lead with a classy header before the break.
Aaron McLean grabbed his fourth in four games to make it 4-1 and Richard Butcher hit a fifth before Jordan Robertson pulled one back late on.
