Lawrie Dudfield's late goal earned Boston a point at Bury as the visitors underwent a half-time transformation after a poor first period. Manager Steve Evans sent his team out early for the second half after telling them their display was "unacceptable".
Dwayne Mattis put Bury ahead, flicking in Brian Barry-Murphy's corner on 37 minutes, and later Simon Whaley hit the post with only the keeper to beat.
After Dudfield's goal, Boston also had strong penalty appeals turned away.
