Carlisle and York City will both be playing in the Conference next season after losing their fight for Football League survival. Carlisle, who have survived several recent escapes from relegation, were left stranded in the bottom two after a 1-1 draw at home to Cheltenham.
York's plight was also decided as they lost 2-1 at home to Leyton Orient.
At the top, Hull clinched promotion with a 2-1 victory at Yeovil thanks to Ian Ashbee's late winner at Huish Park.
Huddersfield missed the chance to join the Tigers in Division Two next season after they crashed to a 3-1 home defeat by play-off hopefuls Mansfield Town.
Victory for the Terriers at Cheltenham next Saturday will still be enough for Peter Jackson's side to claim the third automatic promotion spot.
Torquay still have a chance of finishing third after a 1-1 draw against Kidderminster, but look likely to join Mansfield, Lincoln and Northampton or Yeovil in the Third Division play-offs.
