Morrell scored his 34th league goal of the season |
Wrexham showed no hangover from the celebrations of securing promotion as they beat Leyton Orient to notch a seventh straight victory.
Orient's cause was not aided by Justin Miller being controversially sent off for a professional foul which led to the winner.
Miller was penalised for bringing down Lee Trundle as he broke through in the penalty area.
Andy Morrell, leading scorer in Division Three, made no mistake with the spot-kick to take his tally to 34 league goals for the season.
Orient responded positively and Michael Turner's header went just wide shortly afterwards.
And the home side should have levelled the contest when Chris Tate's strike rebounded off Wrexham keeper Kristian Rogers when a goal seemed inevitable.
Paul Brush's men did have the ball in the back of the net after 82 minutes following a well-worked set-piece, but they were denied an equaliser when the linesman flagged for offside.
