Crisis club York extended their unbeaten run to seven games against fellow promotion-seekers Bury in an evenly-matched contest that ended in a draw.
After a poor first half Jon Parkin gave City the lead from the penalty spot, slotting home after he was hauled down by centre-back Michael Nelson.
But the Shakers levelled just seven minutes later with a superb free-kick from George Clegg, in the side as a replacement for the suspended Terry Dunfield.
York skipper Chris Brass was adjudged to have held back Colin Cramb 22 yards out and Clegg curled the dead ball into the top left-hand corner.
York keeper Michael Ingham kept out a fierce angled drive from the dangerous Jon Newby seconds later, while David Nugent blazed over the York goal from 10 yards at the end of a flowing four-man move.
But City should have clinched the points through substitute Leigh Wood as he ran on to Anthony Shandran's flick only to fire against the inside of the post.
