Rushden & Diamonds stretched their unbeaten League run to 11 matches after a frustrating 0-0 draw at Swansea.

The Swans, whose fans continued to demand that new chairman Tony Petty quit the club, almost went ahead through Jonathan Coates in the first minute but they struggled to create chances thereafter.

Their next opportunity did not come along until the 24th minute when Nathan Tyson just failed to reach a cross by John Williams.

Defences dominated, but Rushden had an opening in the 30th minute when Gary Butterworth shot straight at Swansea goalkeeper Roger Freestone.

The home side should also have gone ahead five minutes into the second half when Barry Hunter headed just inches too high from a Danny Talbot corner.

Genuine chances were few and far between with Swansea's Matthew Bound coming closest to breaking the deadlock after 68 minutes when he struck the foot of a post with an acrobatic overhead kick.

Swansea: Freestone, Howard, Evans, Sharp, Smith, Bound, Phillips, Cusack, Coates, Williams, Tyson. Subs: Jones, Watkin, Todd, Mumford, Casey.

Rushden & D'monds: Turley, Sambrook, Setchell, Peters, Hunter, Hall, Butterworth, Hanlon, Talbot, Partridge, Darby. Subs: Brady, Carey, Pennock, Solkhon, Folan.

Referee: M Ryan (Preston).
