Rochdale notched up their fourth win in a row by beating Charlton, who have now gone 11 games without a victory.
The home side took the lead through Jason Kennedy, who latched onto Jose Semedo's clearance and sent a stunning volley into the bottom corner.
Dale doubled their advantage when Craig Dawson scrambled the ball over the goal line after a Matt Done corner.
The visitors came close to pulling one back late on, but Dawson cleared Therry Racon's shot off the line.
Rochdale assistant manager Dave Flitcroft told BBC Radio Manchester: "We were just a joy to watch with Scott Wiseman in incredible form and the whole team in the first half moved as one and was a complete machine.
"There is a big mentality to these games but the players just embraced it and it was just an incredible spirited performance.
"There's a real team ethic and what we try and do is educate the right way with a no fear approach."
