Rochdale ended a run of three successive defeats with a narrow victory over Notts County.
The Magpies missed a great chance to go ahead when Niogo Demba-Nyren missed the target from Kevin MacDonald's cross.
Dale grabbed the only goal just after half-time when Craig Dawson powerfully headed home from Nicky Adams' corner.
Demba-Nyren and Ivan Sproule both forced excellent saves from Dale goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams, but the home side managed to hold on.
Notts County assistant manager Alex Rae said: "I think down at Orient we got passed to death, this was a different game tonight and we just didn't retain the ball, didn't pass the ball in the way we have done, and it is fair comment to say we were extremely frustrated at half-time.
"It was a dour game, absolutely desperate, but we actually found ourselves going in at nil-nil, so we felt as though we were going to get a wee rally cry and try and get them back out. To concede in the way we did was criminal.
"We highlighted prior to the game that at set-plays they are very, very strong and they came out and scored from that and it's so frustrating."
