Plymouth put their off-the-field woes to one side to claim a superb away win at floundering Sheffield Wednesday.
Bondz N'Gala gave the Pilgrims the lead with a low drive and Joe Mason doubled the advantage from close range after Carl Fletcher's cross was knocked down.
Sub Giles Coke pulled one back with a wonderful 20-yard piledriver before Mason hit a fine second.
Yannick Bolasie put the visitors out of sight with a 30-yard effort, before Reda Johnson headed a late consolation.
Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Well, it's obviously a poor performance. I thought it was worse in the first half then it was in the second.
"Somebody just asked me what positives can you take from that and there aren't any when you lose 4-2 at home. It's not acceptable.
"We spoke about, before the game started, in terms of getting a good start, playing at a high tempo, plying with high intensity, get the crowd into the game and we did totally the opposite. It was like watching paint dry."
Plymouth Argyle manager Peter Reid told BBC Radio Devon: "It's a great result for us and credit goes to the players. It's been trying times but I think our performance sums up what the lads have been about.
"We got it down and passed it - we always looked a threat and you can go through the team and put good performances on most of our players today.
"What's happened has been difficult for everybody involved in the football club and I'm hoping the club can now go forward."
