Swindon's relegation troubles increased thanks to a narrow defeat by Carlisle.
On-loan Spurs striker Jonathan Obika had an early chance to put the home side ahead but fired wide after picking up Jon-Paul McGovern's through ball.
The visitors took the lead on the half-hour when James Berrett turned sharply and slammed a shot into the top corner from 30 yards.
Swindon dominated possession after the break but failed to test the Cumbrians and remain in the relegation zone.
Swindon Town manager Danny Wilson told BBC Wiltshire: "We had enough chances to win the game and we've not put them in the back of the net and that's been the story in the last month or so.
"We haven't taken them, that little bit of composure you need in key areas wasn't there today.
"What was missing was that little bit of quality at the end of it."
