Bournemouth kept their hopes of automatic promotion alive thanks to Michael Symes' goal against Walsall.
In an attacking game the visitors almost took the lead when Jason Pearce thundered a header against the bar.
The Saddlers, who had won their previous three games, forced Shwan Jalal into a superb save to deny Andy Butler before Jason Price hit the bar.
But Symes landed the telling blow when he fired in from the edge of the area from Marc Pugh's low corner.
Bournemouth manager Lee Bradbury told BBC Radio Solent: "It was a good goal, well worked and we'll take that.
"The resilience we showed was brilliant and if we can do that week in week out our quality will show through in the end.
"Shwan Jalal's been on fire for us - making great saves and he deserves his player of the month award."
