Huddersfield had Gary Roberts to thank after his first-half brace handed them the three points over Carlisle.
It was the Cumbrians who made the early headway, but Lubo Michalik and the in-form Francois Zoko were both kept at bay by veteran home keeper Ian Bennett.
The Terriers soon took advantage as Kevin Kilbane slipped Roberts in to slot into the bottom corner.
On the stroke of half-time the pair repeated the trick - Kilbane playing in Roberts who coolly finished his second.
Huddersfield Town manager Lee Clark told BBC Radio Leeds: "We set about the job well and we certainly competed better than we did last time against Carlisle.
"We were determined, we had a good shape to us and even in the first half before we scored we created some decent opportunities and we scored two good goals in the end.
"Two very composed and finishes from Gary Roberts, and he could have got a third before half-time - he was terrific."
Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott tells BBC Radio Cumbria: "We're disappointed because we think Huddersfield have won a shade comfortably tonight.
"Up to the goal in the first half there was nothing in it, we had some terrific chances, we know that goals change games and the keeper has made some unbelievable saves, and we think we should be ahead.
"We concede a goal that is terrific from their point of view, you can't argue about the quality of the pass through to Roberts for the pass, then there's a carbon copy straight away after that and we can't keep coming back from a goal down against teams of that quality."
