Colchester were left frustrated by Yeovil's excellent defensive display as they held the U's to a goalless draw.
Adam Virgo and Nathan Smith went close for Yeovil with long-range shots while Anthony Wordsworth and Kayode Odejayi missed opportunities for the hosts.
After the break Yeovil keeper John Sullivan reacted superbly to tip Odejayi's effort onto the crossbar.
The Glovers almost nicked it at the end but U's keeper Ben Williams was equal to Adam Phillip's shot.
Colchester United manager John Ward told BBC Essex: "I think it was very important that we did not lose the game.
"I think it is very important that we have a point and it is important that we know we can play a little better than that.
"It was a good performance from Yeovil and a tough performance from us."
