Goals from Darren Potter, Mark Beevers and Clinton Morrison earned Sheffield Wednesday an easy fifth straight win over bottom club Walsall.
The Owls' future remains uncertain with former Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric mounting a rescue package.
But Potter put those worries to one side, hammering in from 25 yards, before Beevers headed in his first ever league goal from Gary Teale's cross.
And Morrison converted a Teale corner to condemn Walsall to another defeat.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Alan Irvine told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I was disappointed with our performance in the first half. We got off to that good start getting the goal. I thought we looked a threat whenever we did put anything together but we didn't do that enough.
"I wasn't happy at half time I think we were better in the second half without it being one of our best performances.
"I didn't feel we played with the tempo and the pace and the power and the enegry which we have been playing with recently I think we lacked a bit of an edge"
