Youngster Alex Chamberlain was the star of the show as Southampton thumped Dagenham & Redbridge.
The 17-year-old winger gave his side the lead when his cross was misjudged by Chris Lewington and found the net.
Chamberlain made it two soon afterwards when he chipped Lewington from a similar position to his first goal.
Lee Barnard fired into the top corner after great skill from Adam Lallana, before Chamberlain raced down the left to set up Jose Fonte to head home.
Southampton boss Nigel Adkins told BBC Radio Solent: "I think we were disappointed with a lot of stuff tonight. We've got three points, we've got a clean sheet, we got four goals, but I want us to be better.
"I want more. I want us to play good passing football.
"The momentum is building. I know there's so much more to come from this team. We've got to keep demanding more of each other"
