Kayode Odejayi scored his first goals since February as Colchester came from behind to beat Notts County.
The Magpies dominated the first half and led through Craig Westcarr, who stabbed home inside the area from Karl Hawley's pass.
With just 14 minutes left, substitute Odejayi glanced in Tom Williams' free-kick from close range for his first goal in 22 games.
And he won it for the U's with a second header from another Williams cross.
Colchester United manager John Ward told BBC Essex: "It was our best win of the season, without a question of a doubt.
"Everybody has worked hard to get that result today and it is our best performance because we have had to dig ourselves out of a problem.
"The second half we were excellent and we kept our nerve."
Notts County manager Craig Short told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I'm really, really disappointed. You start the game well and at times you just say to the players, 'where are we at?'
"They put on performances, they did well in the first 30 minutes in that game.
"You look very slick, great movement, creating chances, look rock-steady at the back and then we go and concede the two set-pieces. The basic fundamentals of defending. Sloppy, really sloppy and I'm just so frustrated."
