Oldham fought back from a goal down to heap more misery on struggling Brentford boss Andy Scott.
The Londoners had got off to a great start when Myles Weston coolly slotted home after rounding keeper Dean Brill.
Dean Furman got the Latics back on track as he swept home Oumare Tounkara's cross, while the home side had two efforts ruled out for offside.
Tounkara then played in Chris Taylor who hammered home, before Dale Stephens sealed the win from the penalty spot.
Brentford boss Andy Scott told BBC London 94.9: "The fans can see what has happened today, we are bottom of the table and we are in a relegation fight.
"Obviously they are worried, because they don't want to see us there, and I don't want to see us there."
Oldham manager Paul Dickov told BBC Radio Manchester: "I'm delighted and it was important that we got back on track after last week the boys have trained ever so well this week and I think that showed.
"We've been conceeding silly goals but it shows the team spirit in the changing room and the unity that they've got that they want to have a chat and sort it out themselves.
"He's a big talent Chris (Taylor), you get him on the ball and the biggest thing for us when I took over was wanting to get him fit and getting the best out of him and every time he got the ball something happened."
