Brighton 2-1 Walsall
Second-half goals from Ashley Barnes and Marcos Painter earned the points for Brighton against 10-man Walsall.
Barnes' superb volley broke the deadlock after Glenn Murray picked the striker out with a terrific pass.
Walsall midfielder Alex Nicholls was then dismissed for a straight red card following an off-the-ball incident.
Painter doubled the lead when he converted an Elliott Bennett cross before Jon Macken grabbed a late consolation after a Matt Richards pass.
Brighton manager Gus Poyet told BBC Sussex: "We were a little bit uncomfortable in the first half.

"We sorted it out with a couple of tactical changes. Second half we were better than the opposition. We were going forward with plenty of options.
"We should have won the game comfortably but we don't know how to do it yet. We still not clinical enough, and we got sloppy towards the end."
