Andy Monkhouse's stunning second-half effort sealed an impressive away win for managerless Hartlepool.
Mick Wadsworth took caretaker charge after Chris Turner resigned in the week and he saw Gary Liddle nod home Evan Horwood's corner on the half hour.
But midfielder Monkhouse takes the plaudits after his fine 20-yarder clinched victory after the break.
Dean Bowditch twice came close to setting up a grandstand finish but the hosts have now lost three in a row.
Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton told BBC Somerset: "We should have just given them the three points. We just didn't turn up today and that was one of the worst performances under me.
"That can't happen again - that level of commitment. They beat us with every second ball and you can't be bullied and beaten that badly, especially at home.
"I can take the loss at Bristol Rovers when we show that passion and go forward in the right way but when we don't do it, it's glaring how bad we are."
Hartlepool United caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth tells BBC Tees: "We got lucky a couple of times, the free kick at one nil and we got a couple of blocks at key times.
"Once we got the second goal, we looked a lot more compact and professional.
"As much as scoring goals and good football is good, we set ourselves up well and were resilient.
"The shape of the team was good, they changed their shape to match us, which is a compliment."
