Charlton 1-1 Oldham

A stunning Dean Furman drive gave Oldham a valuable point at Charlton but their afternoon ended on a sour note as Jason Jarrett was sent off late on.

Scott Wagstaff scored his second goal in two games from close range to give the home side the lead.

That was cancelled out by Furman who drilled a shot into the top left-hand corner from 25-yards.

Oldham had other chances but Jarrett was sent off for a second yellow card when he fouled Kyel Reid.

With both sides wining their first two league games of the season this always looked like it was going to be a closely-contested affair.

Charlton had the greater share of possession early on and this paid dividends when Wagstaff pounced for the first, slamming his shot into the roof of the net after Pawel Abbott nodded down Simon Francis's cross.

But once Furman had evened things up just before the break it was arguably Oldham who had the best chances to take all three points.

Oumare Tounkara, who hit the post in the first half, found the woodwork again before drawing a fine fingertip save from Rob Elliot.

The final act of the afternoon saw Jarrett sent off and there were ugly scenes when he fired the ball into the Charlton dugout as he made his way off the pitch.

Charlton manager Phil Parkinson told BBC London 94.9:

"You always want to take all three points at home."

"I felt that in the first half we were content to sit in our two backs of four and make it difficult for them."

"On the ball we were slightly one dimensional today and we can do more than that."
