Walsall secured a fourth successive home win to see off in-form Hartlepool in an entertaining match.
Pools, who had won four of their last five games, fell behind when a scramble ended with a clearance hitting home winger Julian Gray and bouncing in.
Roy O'Donovan raced through to round keeper Rene Gilmartin and level.
But Troy Deeney's left-foot shot made it 2-1 to Walsall and they sealed the win after the break when a flowing move saw Richard Taundry run clear to score.
