Swindon's automatic promotion hopes suffered a setback as they were held to a draw by Walsall.
With all of their chief rivals losing, Swindon had a chance to go level with second-placed Leeds with a victory.
However, they were behind just before half-time when Steve Jones fired the visitors ahead from close range.
Charlie Austin chested home a corner to equalise but a combination of wasteful finishing and Walsall keeper Rene Gilmartin denied them a winner.
Swindon Town manager Danny Wilson told BBC Wiltshire: "The fact that we have away a sloppy goal again, the second in two matches, it gave Walsall something to hang on to.
"Second-half we got a goal back but we didn't have enough guile to get that second goal and we didn't pass it like we can and I think that's down to a bit of anxiousness.
"It'll go down to the last game of the season, I've always said that, and I can't see any great way it can change.
