Francis Laurent was the hero for relegation-threatened Southend as they twice came from a goal down to earn a draw at home to Brentford.
Former Shrimpers striker Charlie MacDonald put the Bees in front when he fired in low.
After the break, Southend bounced back through Laurent whose shot deflected into the goal off Pim Balkestein.
Carl Cort put the Bees ahead when he rifled in from 18 yards before Laurent slid in to equalise from close range.
Southend United manager Steve Tilson told BBC Essex: "For the first 20-25 minutes they dominated proceedings, no doubt about it, we looked very flat.
"But the second half was totally different, we totally dominated.
"We were full of enthusiasm, full of energy and I thought we were going to go and win it."
