Millwall pulled level on points with second-placed Leeds in League One but remain behind them on goal difference despite thrashing Stockport 5-0.
Danny Swailes headed in Chris Hackett's free-kick to put the Lions in front.
Steve Morison poked in Tony Craig's corner before Danny Schofield ran round the keeper to make it 3-0 at half-time.
Schofield's run and cross was then turned into his own net by Paul Huntington, before substitute Jonathan Obika swept in to complete the rout.
Millwall assistant manager Joe Gallen told BBC London 94.9:
"We didn't underestimate Stockport today, we all know their position in the league.
"But they've changed their team around since we last played them and brought in four or five good League One-type players.
"We have to give credit to our team who never slacked off in the opening minute and performed well for ninety."
Stockport boss Gary Ablett told BBC Radio Manchester:
"I feel I've been going into the changing room and saying the same old thing.
"But we don't help ourselves, teams don't have to play particularly well against us because of the goals we gift them.
"We've got eight games to go, they'll continue to get our backing, but somewhere along the line either off or on the field has to change."
