Clayton Ince's howler handed Yeovil victory at a snowy Banks's Stadium.
The Walsall keeper dropped Gavin Tomlin's long ball after five minutes and Sam Williams, who was on the ground, managed to slide the ball in.
Walsall's best chance of an equaliser came in the 54th minute when Troy Deeney set up Alex Nicholls, but the winger hammered the ball wide.
Nicholls also missed the target late on as Yeovil ended their run of three defeats without a goal.
Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton told BBC Somerset: "They created some chances and on another day they might have taken them but we deserved that bit of luck.
"It wasn't the pitch to create something it was an easier pitch to defend - and that suited us.
"We were teetering on the edge of looking over our shoulder at the relegation zone and every time that happens, we grind out a result."
