Troy Deeney headed his 11th goal of the season in the 85th minute as Walsall came from behind to beat Brentford and earn a first win in seven home matches.
The Bees grabbed the opening goal when Mark Phillips's strike found Charlie MacDonald, who controlled and finished.
But the Saddlers deservedly drew level when Alex Nicholls fired home after good work from Darren Byfield.
And after home keeper Clayton had saved Ben Strevens's volley, Deeney dove to head in Nicholls's cross to win it.
Brentford boss Andy Scott told BBC London 94.9:
"It wasn't the fact that we got caught on a break, it's the fact that we gave them the ball to break us.
"It's not a great pitch. A lot of pitches in this league with the weather that we've had are poor, but they played the pitch better.
"I must have said the same thing a million times - if you don't stick to what you do, you get beaten.
"Naivety has cost us."
