A 95th-minute intervention from substitute Robert Snodgrass salvaged a point for stuttering Leeds against relegation-threatened Brighton.
Glenn Murray's late penalty, which came after he was upended by home captain Richard Naylor, had Brighton boss Gus Poyet eyeing a winning return to Leeds.
But Brighton defender Adam Virgo was then sent off for a foul on Max Gradel.
And in the fifth minute of injury-time, Patrick Kisnorbo nodded down Gradel's cross for Snodgrass to rifle home.
Brighton manager Gus Poyet told BBC Sussex:
"Right now, 20 minutes after the game, you start asking questions: "What do we have to do to win a game?"
"For me, it is something important that I see today. We trained this during the week.
"I like what I see, and we did it in front of Leeds, and I think it issomething we take into the future."
